How to use this workflow
Choose a local video
Select one video file no larger than 250 MB. A supported container and audio codec are required; a familiar filename extension alone does not guarantee that the file can be decoded.
Extract the first audio stream
Select Extract first audio track. The browser loads the FFmpeg engine as needed, ignores the video stream and encodes the selected audio.
Download and listen
Download the completed MP3 and check that it contains the language or track you intended. The current extractor page has no output-format or audio-stream selector.
Which audio track is extracted?
The extractor explicitly selects the first audio stream in the file. A video can contain several language tracks or separate microphone feeds; this page does not merge them or let you choose the second one.
A video without an audio stream cannot produce an audio download. If extraction fails, check that the source plays with sound and that its audio codec is supported by the loaded engine. Large decoded media may exceed browser resources even below the file-size limit.
The current download is MP3
The extractor uses MP3 at 320 kbps. This is an encode, not a bit-for-bit copy of an existing compressed track. Raising output bitrate cannot restore sound information lost in the source video.
If a later workflow requires WAV, you can convert the MP3 output, but that does not undo this lossy step. For work that requires preserving the original audio stream exactly, use a workflow with explicit stream-copy controls. This page does not offer that option.
Common questions
Can I paste a YouTube or other video URL?
No. The input is a local file chosen from your device, not a downloader for hosted videos.
Can I directly extract WAV or FLAC here?
Not in the current extractor interface. Its direct output is MP3. The separate converter has additional output formats.
