How to use this workflow
Add the source files
Add up to three files to the queue. Each must be nonempty and no larger than 250 MB. The queue is processed one file at a time.
Choose the output settings
Select the format explicitly. MP3 is the initial choice. Available controls depend on the format: sample rate, bitrate, bit depth, Vorbis quality or FLAC compression level.
Convert and download
Start conversion and wait for the browser engine to load if necessary. Download each completed file. A failed job can be retried; cancellation stops the current processing while retaining the queue.
The seven output choices
AAC and ALAC are written inside an M4A container. A file extension describes the container as well as, sometimes, the codec, so two .m4a files need not use the same compression method.
Swipe or scroll sideways to read all columns.
| Choice | Downloaded extension | Available quality control |
|---|---|---|
| MP3 | .mp3 | 128, 192, 256 or 320 kbps |
| WAV | .wav | 16- or 24-bit PCM |
| FLAC | .flac | 16 or 24 bit; compression level 0–8 |
| AAC | .m4a | 128, 192 or 256 kbps |
| OGG / Vorbis | .ogg | Quality 1–10 |
| AIFF | .aiff | 16- or 24-bit PCM |
| ALAC | .m4a | 16 or 24 bit |
Pick settings for the destination
MP3 and AAC offer 44.1 or 48 kHz in this interface. The other output choices also offer 96 kHz. Raising sample rate or bit depth does not recover information already absent from the source.
MP3, AAC and Vorbis are lossy output formats. WAV, AIFF, FLAC and ALAC can retain the decoded samples subject to conversion settings, but converting an MP3 to one of them does not restore the pre-MP3 recording. Browser memory or an unsupported input codec can still prevent a conversion below the file-size limit.
Common questions
Does a higher FLAC compression level improve sound?
No. The setting changes the lossless compression effort and possible file size, not the decoded audio quality at otherwise identical settings.
Can I convert a streaming-service URL?
The converter accepts local files. It has no URL downloader or mechanism for bypassing protected media.
